The GE Genius adapter board DS200ADCIH1A has 4 jumpers, a 20-pin connector, and three 40-pin connectors.It also houses two programmable memory (PROM) modules.The 40-pin connector and the 20-pin connector on the GE Genius adapter board DS200ADCIH1A connect to the ribbon cable that carries the control signals.Control signals are received by the circuit board for processing, and some control signals are transmitted to other circuit boards and components in the drive.When you plan a replacement, be aware of some information about ribbon cables.Ribbon cables must be handled in a manner to avoid damage.Because of the construction of ribbon cables, any pressure you put on the cables may cause the wires to disconnect from the connectors.When unplugging a cable from the circuit board, hold the cable only by its connector and gently pull it out of the connector.Use your free hand to hold the board steady as you pull the cables from the board.Because the board has multiple connectors, it may be helpful to note the connector identifier that the connector plugs into.Use a small amount of tape to wrap the cable with the connector information.This way, plugging the cable back in becomes easier and faster.It also helps eliminate the possibility of plugging a cable into the wrong connector.Note that you can only disconnect or connect cables when the drive is powered off.Additionally, take steps to protect all components from static electricity buildup.
